Graveyard Oriented happenin's

Sat Aug 19, 2006, 2:40 PM
...Well, more like church linked - the old kirk, pretty much opposite my house, is set on a course for restoration. It was on t.v, on a program that tries to gain money for restoring (seemingly random) community buildings. They can't touch the graves legally though, so the moss-encrusted slabs will stay nicely atmospheric. However, they're thinking of painting it pink. :unimpressed:.

I'm sorry, but I don't want to see pink everday. least of all spoiling a perfectly useable graveyard. How can you take death seriously when it's pinned by a pink elephant?

Anyway, more importantly, it sparked an obligatory awareness raising, tourist capitalising fair. I only found out last Monday that enough people had canceled their stall bookings that I could actually getting table there. I rattled off a couple of paintings and ink sketches of the church and took along some of my normal stuff to the event today - but it poured with rain, so not many came, and I could only display stuff small enough to fit in A4 plastic pockets :P.

Still, I managed to sell two ink drawings - [link] [link] for a total of £12 (woot), annnnd someone was interested enough in my work to give me a commission, another A5 painting of Quetzlcoatl, and paid me £30 up front ( :faint: ). It's not mega-money, but I guess I should get used to that. At least I can say it pays :w00t:.

Errr, it's quite good I guess, but squint, out of proportion and missing some salient details, plus there's a lack of tone change, not to mention odd tooth form.

I think my most recent fav' more than challenges my ability anyway.
